Course overview

Law is a major source of social authority that regulates many interactions between persons, persons and governments, and governments with other governments.

The study of law involves the careful analysis, interpretation, evaluation and application of various sources of legal authority in order to construct solutions to legal problems. Students who enjoy critical thinking and reasoning may find the study of law rewarding.    

This course will give you a broad understanding of the legal system, legal processes and introduce you to practical areas of the law such as torts, contracts, criminal law and transnational law.

You can explore areas that interest you through elective subjects, such as:

  • resources and energy law
  • intellectual property law
  • Indigenous customary law
  • property law
  • human rights.
