Course overview

The Bachelor of Health Science is a broad-based degree that prepares you for a career as a healthcare professional in diverse settings.

You will acquire the knowledge and skills required to work in areas of health promotion, Indigenous health, and health services management.

You will learn about the challenges of working in urban, rural and remote communities and gain prerequisite knowledge and skills for graduate programs in allied health, public health and medicine. 

There is an emphasis on providing culturally safe health care for diverse communities, particularly Indigenous Australians.

Students have the option to choose one of four streams to enrol in: health promotion, health services management, public health or occupational therapy.


  • The course also offers a specialist stream in occupational therapy that may provide a pathway to the Master of Occupational Therapy offered by Flinders University. 
  • There are options as to how you study:  online or on campus, mixed-mode or via workshops (if you enrol through ACIKE).
  • Summer Semester admission is also available for domestic students.
