Course overview

The CDU Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science is conducted in collaboration with Royal Darwin Hospital. Your studies will include work-integrated learning, clinical placements in approved diagnostic and research laboratories in and around Darwin and accelerated study options.

This is a vocational and professionally oriented degree. You will gain the core knowledge and skills needed to work in diagnostic pathology laboratories, in medical research, and in the medical or allied healthcare professions.

As a CDU-trained medical laboratory scientist, you will be qualified to work in other types of laboratories, or go into higher degree by research.

Professional laboratory scientists are in high demand in the Northern Territory, Australia-wide and internationally.

You will find work in fields such as diagnostic pathology, including in commercial laboratories; forensic pathology; and research laboratories.

Our graduates can move into careers within health management, in public health departments, educational institutes and the pharmaceutical industry.
