Bachelor of Psychological Science Honours - VPSSH1 - 2018

Course overview

Psychology is concerned with understanding human behaviour and its underlying mental processes.

The Honours year in Psychology at CDU is your opportunity to pursue your interest in this area in a course that meets the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council’s (APAC) criteria for fourth-year study and registration requirements of the Australian Health practitioner Regulation Agency.

WHY STUDY WITH US

  • This course is fully internal (ie, not available online) and the delivery is supported by Learnline. The course equips you with a range of skills and knowledge and allows you to develop your research skills. You will develop your core knowledge and understanding of psychology, research methods in psychology and values, as well as skills in critical thinking, research and professional ethics, communication skills and learning and the application of psychology.
  • The Honours degree is an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited undergraduate degree and provides an opportunity for advanced study and research. Graduates or able to obtain provisional registration with the Psychologist Board of Australia. With a further Equivalent Full Time (EFT) two years of approved study or supervised work experience you can apply to register as a Psychologist.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

This degree leads to registration as a conditional or probationary psychologist. It also enables you to work as an intern or to apply for further study in Master and PhD programs.

Our graduates find work in aged, child and family services; child protection; community health and welfare; drug and alcohol, disability and rehabilitation services; health service management; research and evaluation; policy and planning; human resources management and marketing.

Professional recognition

On completion of the Bachelor of Psychological Science Honours degree students are eligible for Associate membership of the Australian Psychological Society.
