MEM20105 - Certificate II in Engineering - 2018

Course overview

This qualification is for people employed at the basic production operator level in manufacturing, engineering and related industry areas. Students will gain the base level competencies required by an operator working in these areas.

They will also acquire skills and knowledge in workplace communication, occupational health and safety, quality procedures systems and planning, plus some industry- specific skills such as:

  • Carry out mechanical cutting
  • Perform routine oxy acetylene welding
  • Perform manual heating and thermal cutting
  • Perform routine manual metal arc welding
  • Perform manual production welding
  • Perform routine gas tungsten arc welding
  • Perform routine gas metal arc welding
  • Perform hand forging
  • Use workshop machines for basic operations
  • Use comparison and basic measuring devices
  • Use hand tools Use power tools/hand held operations 
  • Plan a complete activity
