Course overview

This course is for learners who have already had some formal or informal exposure to English and have developed a basic level of English literacy and numeracy skills. In this course, you will build on your current language skills and gain the confidence to particpate in a range of community contexts.

Educational outcomes include:

  • developing learning strategies to study in formal learning environments •comprehending and participating in formal and informal spoken exchanges (e.g. conversations, telephone exchanges and job interviews)
  • developing reading and writing skills in preparation for work, further studies and personal use
  • comprehending and using fractions and decimals
  • performing multiplication and division with whole numbers
